Husband and wife team Eddie and Cherie Uzan both having developed a passion for cuisine, knew they wanted to combine the love of the surf with the elegance of fine dining. Every service at AVVIA, We have pleasure to translate those passions into a memorable experience that is both relaxed and intimate. Through high quality ingredients, innovative recipes, and superb service, AVVIA offers consistently new and exciting flavors in an atmosphere of comfort and style.

Ehud “Eddie” Uzan was born in Israel and grew up in a family where preparing and eating good homemade food was ingrained at a young age. Eddie is well known and a local favorite in his hometown. He is respected and known in the restaurant community of the city as well as on the beaches as he has been active in kitchens throughout the world. He has been a chef for many years and an active surfer since he was in grade school. He is noted chef and personality Ehud Uzan, owner of AVVIA Café Restaurant. The food is noted for its simplicity, clarity of flavors and use of local ingredients, with many sourced at the very abundant local Farmer’s Market.

In addition to his talents in the kitchen, Eddie  is known for his second passion … surfing. He has earned the title “The Surfing Chef

AVVIA offers a warm, unpretentious ambiance that keeps the spotlight on its food. Chef Ehud works daily to keep the food as he describes it …’with fresh, locally sourced produce, meats and seafood, and then all prepared with care from the kitchen and combined with robust portions. “We use the same quality of products and care in preparation in the AVVIA  kitchen as I do for my own family at home.”

Cherie Uzan is the Director of AVVIA Café Restaurant. She is known by many through her tenure with AVVIA and for her ease in making all guests feel welcome – on their first visit to AVVIA or for those who return night after night. She oversees all the service staff, restaurant ordering and also is the catering director for AVVIA, being responsible for all private parties and special events.

Cherie will help the expert or neophyte in planning a perfect event — custom menus, seating arrangements, timing and special touches that will make any hostess shine. She is comfortable in the restaurant and with its clients.

Prior to AVVIA Cherie has worked the past 8 years in the hospitality industry focusing on restaurant and hotel fit outs. With a further history in restaurant management where she garnered her calm and meticulous management style. Her interests in design and style are evident from her attention to all details, both in her personal style and within the restaurant. She is always available to consult for event planning at AVVIA or for a special catered affair.

      Thanks for your message. AVVIA is BYO for wine only every Wednesday with a corkage fee of $4.50 per person. We hope to see you for dinner soon!
